In case you missed today’s NTT IndyCar Series pre-race show broadcast nationally on NBC from Portland, Ore., Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course wants to inform you about the 2020 IndyCar schedule and our date shifting from its late July weekend to mid-August.
After discussions and agreement between INDYCAR, our title partner American Honda, and our team,The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio is scheduled August 14-16, 2020. It will be the first NTT IndyCar Series race after the 2020 Summer Olympics coverage airing exclusively on the NBC family of networks which include NBC and NBCSN. As a result, INDYCAR will have a mid-summer break from July 25 – August 9 to support NBC’s comprehensive Olympics coverage from Tokyo. Visit IndyCar.com to read more about the 2020 schedule announcement.
Also, due the 2020 Summer Olympics coverage on NBC, the NASCAR Xfinity Series event, the B&L Transport 170 at Mid-Ohio, will move to an earlier date, May 29-30, 2020.
We recognize that these changes may cause an inconvenience for some. Rest assured that our team will definitely re-evaluate the switch in dates after the 2020 events to determine what is the best option for 2021. Please know that this may only be a one-year shift.
Thanks for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you at the remaining two events at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this fall (NASA Championships, September 18-22, 2019 and Cooper Tires ARX of Mid-Ohio / Round 2, October 5-6, 2019), and, also of course again in 2020, for the B&L Transport 170 at Mid-Ohio, May 29-30, and The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, August 14-16.
