Friday tradition benefitting Make-A-Wish® Canada returns on July 15th
TORONTO (June 22, 2022) - After a two-year hiatus, the Honda Indy Toronto returns to the downtown streets of Toronto, July 15-17, and the tradition of Honda Fan Friday presented by the Ontario Honda Dealers Association makes its return as well.
To kick off the exciting festival weekend, spectators can make a voluntary donation to Make-A-Wish® Canada and receive free general admission on Friday, July 15. More than $820,000 has been raised during Honda Fan Friday and race weekend festivities since its inception. The Honda Canada Foundation will match dollar for dollar donations made by generous race fans during the Honda Indy Toronto.
The day’s on-track action will be headlined by the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in the Grand Prix of Toronto. Canada’s top stock car drivers will battle for 80 minutes on the 2.874-kilometre, 11-turn circuit to conclude the day.
Off the track, Honda Canada will present an array of activations and features near the Turn 11 Honda pedestrian bridge during the weekend at Exhibition Place. The Honda World display will be a cornerstone of the festival experience creating a memorable weekend for the whole family.
“We are very excited to once again support the Honda Indy Toronto as the premier sporting event makes its much awaited return to the streets of Toronto,” said Dave Jamieson, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc. “Racing is an important part of Honda’s history and culture, and we embrace the chance to help give fans memorable experiences around this prestigious motorsports festival.”
Honda World features unique and interactive exhibits for the entire family, including an immersive experience with an unforgettable tour of the brand’s core pillars. Race fans can take part in engaging demonstrations and interactive elements that highlight Honda’s contributions to safety and mobility innovation, protecting the environment, Canada’s manufacturing sector and ongoing support of communities across the country.
Fans will be able to see the results of a Honda HR-V crash-test up close and watch as robots work alongside Honda manufacturing associates to build a model car. There will also be opportunities to learn about Honda’s environmental engineering through a digital “X-Ray” view of a hybrid vehicle and take a stroll through a scenic park setting to learn how the Honda Canada Foundation gives back to communities and organizations like Make-A-Wish.
“We are extremely grateful for our partnership with Honda Canada and the Ontario Honda Dealers Association as we bring this great festival back to Toronto. Honda Canada and the Ontario Honda Dealers Association are tremendous partners, and we look forward to seeing all the exceptional interactive exhibits at work at Exhibition Place,” said Jeff Atkinson, Honda Indy Toronto President. “We are especially excited to see the return of Honda Fan Friday presented by the Ontario Honda Dealers Association and the impact donations will have on our community through Make-A-Wish Canada.”
Additional remote displays include ‘Project Integra,’ plus the latest Honda Motorcycles and Power Equipment all on display. There will also be chances to win a Honda Civic and a Honda Power Equipment prize bundle.
All spectators are encouraged to use Toronto’s GO Lakeshore West Train to Exhibition Station for the easiest commute without the worry of traffic or parking at the Honda Indy Toronto.
